What is 3D Secure?
This is a service that additionally verifies your VISA and Mastercard payments to increase security. During the online card payment, you will be prompted to confirm the payment via 3D Secure. Slovak and foreign online shops that support 3D Secure authentication have Mastercard ID Check and Visa Secure logos.
How do I confirm a payment via 3D Secure?
In one of the following three ways:
- Directly in the VÚB Mobile Banking app via Mobile PIN or fingerprint/FaceID
- SMS code and password for the card
- Code from the VÚB token app
- The card password is a security feature that is included in your card contract. You can also find it in your Internet Banking in Card Details You can view it there and change it any time for free. For instructions on how to find or change your card password in Internet Banking, click HERE.
- If you don't use Internet Banking, you can also get your password through any VÚB Bank branch. The password will be provided only to you as the cardholder after your identity has been verified with your ID card.
You have three attempts to enter the correct security code and password into the system. If the security information is entered incorrectly three times, you will be redirected to the merchant's site. For security reasons you will be unable make 3D Secure Internet card payments for 60 minutes. Then you can use your card again to pay online.
- If you enter the security code and password incorrectly repeatedly, the card will be blocked for 3D Secure Internet payments. You can request unblocking of your card for internet payments by calling the Contact service (0850 123 000, from abroad +421 2 4855 5970).
- PLEASE NOTE For SMS authorisation, the security code is only entered once. If you make an error when entering it, request a new SMS authorisation message by clicking on the "Send new SMS code" icon. An SMS with a new security code will be generated and sent to you.
- To use this new payment confirmation method, you need to have your mobile phone connected to the internet. You must have the VÚB Mobile Banking app installed and activated on your phone, and push notifications enabled on your phone and in the app. We also recommend that you update your Chrome web browser on your mobile device to the latest version.
- Mobile PIN (mPIN) is a four-digit numeric code that you choose when activating the VÚB Mobile Banking app. This security feature is used for logging into the VÚB Mobile Banking app, for transaction authorisation in Internet Banking services, the Contact Centre, and the VÚB Mobile Banking app. All information and benefits of Mobile PIN can be found at IB Security.
- Your mobile phone must support the use of fingerprint/Face ID, and then you can use it to confirm card payments on the internet up to €1,000/1 payment. It is also necessary to activate authorisation of card transactions via the fingerprint scanner in the VÚB Mobile Banking app – Settings – Fingerprint login – Authorisation of card transactions.
- If you don't receive a push notification or cancel it by mistake, open the VÚB Mobile Banking app. We will notify you of the pending authorisation, and you can proceed with the payment confirmation. If you don't click on the push notification and confirm your card payment via the VÚB Mobile Banking app in time, we will send you a security code by SMS.
- If you don't have Nonstop Banking and so have no security feature, you can't make card payments online at merchants that support 3D Secure. Nonstop Banking can be set up online at Setting up Internet Banking or at any VÚB branch. Activation and use of Nonstop Banking is free, and payment confirmation via 3D Secure does not incur additional fees.
- If you are using multiple security features within Nonstop Banking, you may see a screen with the available security features. You can choose one of these to verify the online card payment. The easiest and fastest way to verify is through VÚB Mobile Banking. In this case, you will confirm the payment with your Mobile PIN or fingerprint/Face ID.
- In this case, the payment was not successfully authorised. Authorisation means verifying the payment against the card balance, account balance, and limits. A payment may be declined due to insufficient payment limit, account balance, etc. Sometimes the payment after successful authentication does not even proceed to authorisation. This may be due to a slow internet connection.
- You can check the reason for rejection by contacting the Contact service (0850 123 000, from abroad +421 2 4855 5970).
- For merchants that do not support 3D Secure, it is sufficient to enter the card details (card number, expiry date, and 3-digit code on back of card). Be careful when making such a payment, as the risk of credit card misuse is much higher in an unsecured environment. The transaction takes place without cardholder authentication via the security features of Nonstop Banking.
- This payment was apparently assessed by the bank as secure, and therefore didn't need to be confirmed via the security feature. This can happen, for example, if you are paying a small amount or making a recurring payment.
- Please contact us immediately (0850 123 000, from abroad +421 2 4855 5970) to verify this payment. If you have not made a payment, we will deactivate or permanently block your card to prevent misuse. You can also deactivate/permanently block your card via VÚB Mobile Banking.
